It was like my world was shaded in greys and turned into a vast array of colours. It was like i had seen the world in such a bleak view point until i was guided through this museum. It’s not my first museum nor will it be my last. It was my first furniture museum. I have a better appreciation for interior design and also for the simple chair. Unforgettable. I sometimes will daily still see the impressions from the art pieces in my day to day life. Absolutely life changing experience.

Current exhibition is “home stories”. It presents 20 different and interesting homes. Though to me, it is not so clear why the curator chosen these 20, which he believed they can represent the past 100 years? Vitra Design Museum to me is a rather small museum, it contains 4 little halls. The staffs are friendly. They offer fun programs for kids. We (family) were very happy to be there. The museum shop is mainly selling books, we didn’t find many souvenirs to buy.

A celebration of the names and shapes that form the modern furniture vocabulary, along with works by contemporary architects. Loved the outdoor seating area populated with a huge area of designs. Lots of static and pop up exhibitions and available exhibit and factory tours.

A good experience to appreciate world of design. Even though the images of this building have been posted thousands times, some identifying pieces are truly great, besides, exploring the exhibits of modern architects is a good idea to know how are the creations had been developed.

What an unbelievable place to go! A short drive or a comfortable tram ride from Basel. The best furniture design space I have seen with a very important legacy. The architecture is not to be missed and the museums have amazing displays.
