Whether it’s a warm pretzel or deliciously dark rye bread, Germans love their dough-based produce. This museum was founded by two entrepreneurs who worked in the bakery trade before opening their first permanent exhibition in 1960. It soon became a museum, which is now run by a charitable foundation. Visitors can check out fascinating displays of baking tools, admire bread-related art and learn about bread’s importance to food security. We’re feeling bloated just thinking about it.

A small privately run museum over 3 floors. All about bread, looking at it from many perspectives, not just as a source of nourishment. It has an excellent audio guide in English, French or German ( possibly other languages too). Separate audio guides for children. Some interactive exhibits. They also run lots of workshops, apparently. They are holding a festival next week, which I’d love to attend. We were told they will be closing down for 6 months to reorganize until May 2019 soon. We spent 2.5hours in the museum and completely lost track of time there. It exceeded our expectations and we‘ll definitely come back in 2019 for a workshop and to see the new set up.
lovely staff & interesting collection, a great mixture of historic and recent art with objects explaining the history of bread, baking and milling in an old rennovated warehouse in ulm.
An interesting museum, which introduced lots of economic, historical, political knowledge with bread, a very basic daily necessity of life.
A really nice museum with an excellent audio guide all for 6 euros. We spent two hours there and wish we had had 4.
