Stuttgart is the city where the heart of the automobile beats in Germany. The Mercedes brand was born in this city and hosts a huge museum. The museum is closed on Mondays. I visited the fantastic museum in January 2020 and was absolutely blown away by the history and motor vehicles on display.

One of the best museums ever visited. Suitable for all adges. Great set up (lighting, background music) and layout. Your tour starts from the top building floor with story telling about founders of Mercedes, you are then led floor by floor down through the history and envolvement of this great car. Trully great experience that you will never forget. Worth trop and money!

Amazing place to visit, the museum starts by a story telling journey from the top floor to down. Starting from the idea of building a mechanical car, motors evolution, cars early concepts to modern cars. What fascinated me the most was the cars that produced for a short-period then disappeared for many reasons (no-use, wars, failure of concept, ... etc.). I do like the place and will visit it again!

In 1897, Emil Jellinek, an Austrian dealer and Austrian Consul General in Nice who lived in Nice, France, visited the Daimler plant and bought a car. Jellinek maintained good relations with the international financial world and the aristocracy and attracted a great deal of attention on the French Riviera with his Daimler car. Later, in 1899, Jelinek took part in a race in Nice and named a Daimler racing car with a 23 hp engine named after his older daughter Mercedes and won first place. After this success, Jelinek ordered 36 cars from the Daimler plant and asked these vehicles to bear the name "Mercedes". After Emil Jelinek's sales success, Daimler decided to call the vehicles it had produced since 1901 "Mercedes". Mercedes is a common name in Spanish-speaking countries. In other words, it's the Spanish name for the planet Mars. It also means grace and grace. It was registered as a Mercedes brand name on June 23, 1902. It has been protected by law since September 26, 1902.

Best place to know about the history of Benz. Huge collection of cars right from it's inception to the current date. Visited this place in 2012..during my visit to Stuttgart.

It will take nearly 4 to 5 hours to explore the all floor properly. The entry ticket is 10 euro and once you enter into the museum, you will be given audio guide which is unable with RF. The museum has such great architecture which follows the timelines and evolution of cars from 1885 to till now. It's a great place for car enthusiasts and children. It is located near by Daimler Head office and Can reach by train easily.

A must have place to go to if you have any interest in automobiles. With such a vast amount of exhibits to see, it is best to arrive for first opening in order to have enough time to get around everything. Good cafe at the museum, bit of a walk from the train halt though.
