Amazing place with outstanding exhibitions. After spending 3 hours I’ve realized it’s has 8 floors and I was on the 3rd, but had to rush for the train back home. Must see! Though reserve at least 3-4 hours - it has a LOT to see.

Good place worth visiting 9 story building, and it's really big one. After 4.30 it's half price ticket.

Superb museum with unrivalled content about naval history International maritime museum is keeping exhibits from ancients to modern times. You can find not only ships or boats here, but in-depth look of naval history, explorations, cruise ships, fishing and etc. Museum is a massive 9-storey building, thematically organized. I went there with my 3 year old niece who was totally amazed and inspired by the limitless number exhibits. Could not get any better. 100/100

Impressive 8-floor museum over world maritime history. Accessible to all including non-German speakers. Left the museum having enjoyed learning Can easily spend 2h inside as time flies by. For a thorough visit, plan at around 4 to 6h.

MUCH larger on the inside than it appears on the outside. I like that you can leave and return within the same day multiple times to eat, shop, relax, etc. I enjoyed looking at the medals of different navies, learning the science behind navigation and looking at some of the ancient maps. It’s beautiful.

Outstanding museum!! Though you should bring some time since it’s on 10 levels. Many details into the history of maritime are given with pictures, models and historical stuff! I liked it a lot - we went there during a Monday noon where there were not many people which made it quiet nice to read and get into the things. Take a look into the pictures to get an impression. Have a good time there :)

A splendid way to spend an afternoon in Hamburg city. The museum is easily accessible by public transport. There are buses and subway U4 that offers good connectivity. The museum is spread across nine floors (there is a 10th floor, which is used for hosting special functions. You can either start from floor nine or level zero. For more authenticity, the floors are called decks in the museum. The collection is par excellence with detailed explanation on many of the exhibits. (In fact, every exhibit has a detailed explanation but, most of it is only in German). There are detailed materials and collections from all aspects of the maritime affairs. (Trade, warfare and exploration). Deck 8 is dedicated for paintings related to sea faring. And deck 9 has diorama and model ships. One aspect which I noticed was that the museum is focused mostly on the European exploration and developments and not much has been mentioned about other seafaring cultures.
