As a professional woodcarver from the UK, I was very interested to see the traditional carvings from this area of Bavaria. After looking at the large, commercial woodcarving retail outlets in the nearby town of Oberammergau, Hans Joachim's workshop/shop was like stepping into the real, traditional carving heritage of the area. It is in the ground floor of his own house, a building constructed in the classic Alpine style of the area, surrounded by hills and packed full of stunning carvings. His work is definitely well respected by others in the Ammergau district (including carvers) and is absolutely of the highest quality. I definitely recommend visiting.
