Very high waterfall ,quite a long walk to the top but worth seeing. You can take your time and walk steadily the paths are all Tarmac and easy for walking on, it's a very nice walk up through woodland and nature.Lots of lovely shops in the city of Triberg too.

Above Triberg, in the midst of Black Forest, the Gutach river plunges over seven major steps from a gently undulated high plain into a rocky V-shaped valley. In Triberg, at the bottom of the falls, the deep valley forms a basin just wide enough for a small town. The steep basin and the waterfalls were initially formed by two faults in the granite and then by glaciers during several glaciations of the Pleistocene. Triberg with its waterfalls is a popular tourist spot, attracting a large number of both domestic and foreign tourists each year. The upper part of the falls is less spectacular. Here the water is used by a small and very old hydroelectric power plant.

It’s a great place to visit. There is an entry ticket to go to the top of the waterfall however due to corona its close. One can only have a walk in the forest and the entry towards the top of the waterfall is closed. These pictures are recently taken in December.

Well it's claim to fame is that it's Germany's highest waterfall but unlike the Angel or Victoria falls (that are so high that water evaporates and turns into mist before hitting the ground) these are slowed down in incremental cascades. Maybe to save the Triberg town from being swept away. So definitely not as thunderous but on the plus side, you can get pretty close to it via wooden bridges without being terrified. They also claim that its good for asthma patients because the air is filtered through trees and water so you breath in only what you're supposed to.

Nice to place to have a small trek. There are more of small waterfalls. But you can't go very near to waterfall due to barricades. And further there are lot of trails so we have to decide on how to go. There is a parking place in the foothills as well as at the top so it completely a choice. I guess there is a small every fee as well.
