I had my solo exhibition at TAKT Leipzig in June of 2020 - it was a great experience, I got lots of support from Antje and Bernd and help setting up the space for the opening. Hoping to return someday!

I'm a visual artist from Japan. Participating in Artist in residence was my first experience. So I can't compare it with other residence programs, but everything was great, for instance, warm human relationships, comfortable living space and convenience location. In addition to attending exhibitions and curating works at regular AIR, Takt's program includes German lessons and sketching sessions. In the German class, I learned art terms in addition to the greetings and words that are used on a daily basis. The teacher also helped me translate my c.v and artist statements into German. In the sketch session, different themes were set every week, and the poses and movements changed according to the themes, so I was very excited every time. We were able to have a meaningful exchange of opinions through regular curating. However, in my case, a pandemic lockdown occurred during the residence period, and the situation suddenly changed and there was a temporary difficult time, but I was able to overcome it with the help of the residence organizer, her family, and friends I got through the residence program. Thanks to Takt and everyone.

I am a writer and I observe the relational dynamics for natural propensity. At Takt I found human warmth and very positive vibes. The group that has just formed (people from all over the world, with a very varied culture and sensitivity) immediately became familiar and in a few days visited an incredible number of exhibitions, participated in slam poetry, went to see films in outdoor cinema. The meetings to discuss the work in progress are held with extreme competence and a spirit of constructive criticism. I found the rooms very comfortable, quiet, well equipped and ideal for working in peace. Ultimately how you live an experience depends on how you relate to others. I felt some tension, but these were issues totally attributable to the edge personality of some residents. If this were not the case, it would not explain the incredible feeling that was born among the newcomers. I highly recommend Takt. It is the fairest way to experience Berlin and its endless offer of cultural exchange.
