My family drove to Geierlay from south Bonn. 1.5 hours. It was after 3 weekends of snow. The crowds were few. Currently (January 2021) you may only cross the bridge in one direction Mörsdorf to Sosberg. Be prepared to hike the full loop through the forest. It is very muddy! Wear clothes and boots for muddy conditions. Paths through the fields are nicely maintained. Be prepared to wear a mask on the bridge. There was a man selling coffee, sodas, and non alcoholic glühwein before entering the bridge. What beautiful views! Even my 7 year old who is afraid of heights did okay on the bridge. Pack a snack & water 4/5 stars because even in light crowds, it is hard to stop & truly enjoy the views as I wanted to. The forest walk & creeks were peaceful even in the mud. With my husband, 5 year old & 7 year old we did the full loop with 10 minute break for lunch in under 3 hours. We used the pay carpark 7,50. Definitely recommend on a sunny or cloudy day.

A very cool place to visit especially during the week where there is a good chance you'll have the whole bridge to yourself! As the hike is now allowed only in one direction, it may be too strenuous for some as you have to go all the way downhill and climb up all the way to the town again. There are no shops or restrooms on the way so use the facilities at the information center and bring your water and snacks with you. But take your time, enjoy the walk... It's worth it. the whole visit is completely free of charge...
Fantastic place . Beautiful view. And lots of fresh air ;)
First we had to park the car at the village (kinda expensive), then we walked through a wonderful forest for about 30 minutes. Be prepared to wear proper shoes cause the trail is very narrow and on rainy days also dangerous (slippy) !!! Then we waited for about ONE AND A HALF HOURS on the line (due to corona) -.- Okay, now about the bridge : I suffer from Acrophobia (the fear of heights), so I just focused my eyes on the end of the bridge LOL. Still I have to say it was worth it, since it gave me for a few minutes an adrenaline rush.
What a beautiful place to visit. Highly recommend. For Pandemic reasons you can cross the bridge in odds and evens hours in both directions accordingly. Keep that in mind. It will take your 2 hours.
