This is an awesome ride. take the train up to Drei Annen Hohne, Schierke or maybe even up to the Brocken and you will have a great experience. Agreed, the cars are not an ICE train but let's be honest, you take the HSB for the unique experience of riding in an old fashioned train of days long gone. And that is essentially what you get.

A great experience. Great steam train going up the mountain.It does get very busy in the morning and a wee bit pricy,too.But you see a lot on the way when going up thru woodland and great views.

One of the best entertainment in this area. Better to go during the day with lights. Little bit expensive, but it worth it. It longer than 1,5 one way, so plan all your activities in advance. No food and hot drinks in the train - one way you can buy in Schierke, there is a long stay to add water to the train. On the back way it can be a problem,
