Definitely worth visiting if you in the vicinity of South Germany. The views on a bright and sunny day are absolutely breathtaking. A return ticket of the cable car ride to the summit at 2224m is about 36 which is quite reasonable!
Its nice place for skiing and ice games. U can reach this place by oberstdorf. From there bus is available up to the tram station. We had a nice time there. Ticket costs around 16 euro per person. It has three stages. In second stage restaurants and wash room are available. You can rent the full skiing suit and equipments there itself.
The view is amazing any time of the year. (If there is no fog) :) i was lucky
Really busy cable car station, & only two cable cars so there are extremely long queues and wait to get into the cart, both for the ascent and descent. Also, they overfill each cart with people, its soooooooo congested in them and you have several people brushing up on you and stepping on your toes; & it's not air conditioned so terribly stuffy and hot. At least they have a convenient store at the station, so you can purchase snacks for the long wait in the queue.
