Lovely place, a bit overpriced and crowded in high season; specially the tent area. One of the best sanitary I've seen in a camping. Some very noisy neighbours and it's clear that it's okay until midnight. This place is barbecue friendly and it seems like you can rent or borrow a fire pit but we didn't know how as the staff we've seen only spoke German. Easily accessible using public transport.

The location is top. The fields for tents are nice. The facilities are so so. Showering is done with a card. Why a card is used is a mystery to me for a camping where hikers might come in after the reception hours. It appears that nothing was arranged for those hikers anyway, but that is not what I'm rating. My rating of 3 stars, which is still quite generous in my opinion, is mainly based on the "welcome" at the reception desk. The lady was unfriendly, unhelpful and didn't mention some critical information. If I had to rate just the welcome experience I would give it 1 star (as lower is not possible). I'm able to speak German relatively ok, so there was no language barrier which could have caused a problem. If it wouldn't be too late to check an other camping I would have left after this encounter. From other guests I heard that they had similar encounters. Also from other guests I heard that a card for showering was required, but I only heard that after the reception hours. Luckily other guests were able to inform me that cards were also available at the restaurant.

Great place for people who like to go hiking in the surrounding. We arrived around 8pm but over the intercome someone told us to pick a spot and arrange the check in the next morning. All very easy, campsite was cozy and not too big. Good sanitary facilities, very clean. Also handy to have a small shop and a restaurant (with vegetarian dishes) on the property.

Only given one star as could not give it none. We are on a three month trip with a couple of weeks to go. We have done 15 countries and 25 sites in that time. So we turn up and about 4:30 and speak on an intercom to a man who said find any empty space and then come to the office after 5 and register. Nightmare then starts. We find a space, park, set up and crack open a beer. We did have to climb over someone’s tent to plug in the electricity. I then queue for about 20 minutes to be told to move cannot have that space. I go back to pitch and other half is very comfy now having had a long couple of days driving. We decide not to move and stay where we are. Queue again for 20 minutes and he starts shouting at me in German and to the man behind me. I left the office in tears and we moved three places. I queued again and after I paid the extortionate rate of 28 for one night not including the use of a shower. That was extra. Constant smell of sewage and messy toilets that could use a clean. And NO phone coverage and only WIFi by reception or toilets. Hideous place. Need to know anything else???

Good positioned, some of the routes start directly from Ostrauer Mühle. Friendly personnel. Unfortunately no W-Lan. And no garbage cans. You have to pay a small amount for every extra service (showers 0,50 every 3 minutes, etc.). Be aware that network and data coverage is very poor in the whole area (no LTE, no 3G, at least with Vodafone we scarcely had Edge connectivity). You should download all the maps and routes you need to your phone/GPS already in Bad Schandau. Otherwise the whole area is very clean, although sometimes it smells unpleasantly of sewage in the evening. Breakfast is 10 Euros but really satisfying.

We stayed for 3 nights in May 2017. Perfect spot for access to the national park, with hiking trails starting from the campsite. Facilites were excellent and very tidy. Good value for money and helpful staff. Would stay again!!!
