This small authentic place has a special vibe and a very good menu. It is perfect for grabbing lunch or dinner. Beside the traditional sausages you can also try a marvelous "Chilly con carne". The bier on a tap is also exceptional!

Many locals will tell you Spezial is the best Rauchbier in the world and you wouldn't argue with them. I love both and Spezial Bock is a easy brew to throw down. One huge plus here is they have rooms upstairs and we stay here every year for my birthday weekend. Their food is perhaps even better than their beer. I've had numerous amazing dishes from rabbit leg to duck to venison, all with fabulous homemade sauces. This is hearty food made for winter so glad I was a December baby. The small room to your left on entering could be in a museum. Bamberg is blessed.

Legendary smoked beer (Rauchbier) brewery in the home of smoked beer. Exquisite beer served as fresh as is humanly possible from the brewery - try the full range, they're all superb. The food was amazing as well, and alongside excellent value for money and friendly service this is a must-stop for anyone in Bamberg. The brewery also offers around 7 rooms for guests but I can't comment on these as we didn't stay there. I would however suggest trying to book as early as possible as it's probably the number 1 choice for staying in Bamberg.
