Beautiful little lake in Blaubeuren! The lake appears stunning blue due to its mineral deposits at the bottom.
I came here by chance after visiting the archeological museum. The water is so clear with beautiful underwater flora. With the right light, the color of the water is amazing.
The Blautopf is located in the city of Blaubeuren, approximately 16 km west of Ulm. It took us almost 2.5 hours from Munich by car( we faced traffic). The Blautopf is a spring in a Karst environment. One characteristic of a Karst environment is that water, which drains quickly through the limestone in one area, surfaces in another. The water's peculiarly blue color very much depends on the weather but they say morning to mid day is the best time. It’s a beautiful serene location in a small quaint village. It’s free of entry, there is a free parking nearby.
This is a beautiful spot within a beautiful town. The \blue pot\ spring originates deep underground as part of a cave system. An easy trail surrounds the spring and also continues along the edge of town.
