Great hike Loop with beautiful castle visit included. Burg Eltz is one of the most beautiful and oldest castles in Germany built over 500 years period in phases. A guided tour is worth it. The hiking route is easy/ moderate level. We did 13kms Loop walking through Apple, pears trees on the way. During Corona castle tour might be overcrowded so plan early before 11am. Also you can visit nearby places like small waterfalls etc

We did the 12.3km loop. It is so very worth it I highly recommend the effort. We skipped going inside the epic looking castle because the lineup was absurd. Instead we continued down the rock stairs down to the creek from the castle bridge. Another half hour down the trail there is an amazing restaurant patio to drink a refreshing cold raddler before hiking up out of the gorge. Best day of our Cochem holiday!
Fields, villages, castle, river, woods. It's a nice walk with a lot of different sights. If you ever want to visit the Eltz Castle and like nature, this 4 hour walk is the way to do it.
