Not a bad place to visit. The museum is located a kilometre or so from the closest S-bahn (Oberschleißheim). There's a locker room and cafe there, which serves hot drinks and baking goods (like pie, muffins, etc). I would highly suggest eating lunch before arriving, because the only hot meals served are pre-made pizzas. There's also a souvenir shop that sells books, DVDs, Revell models, etc. Inside the museum, you are immediately greeted by a hall of monoplanes and gliders. Then, in the main exhibition hall there's a large display of modern planes and helicopters. Some impressive sights include a Messerchmitts Me 163 Komet and Me 262 (early jet fighters); Eurofighter Typhoon and Dornier Do 31. Some other drawbacks in this place includes 1) most information boards are in German, with only a few in English 2) the aircrafts are crowded together, making photography and admiring it difficult. Otherwise a decent place to spend 2 hours at.
My husband was station with the helicopters in 1956' we hope t visit soon.
Das älteste Flugfeld in Bayern, nette Atmosphäre, Sportflieger, kleiner Biergarten, tolle Flugwerft des Deutschen Museums und Schloss Oberschleißheim gleich um die Ecke. Traumhaft.
Am Flieger Treff Biergarten klein aber fein. Fast alles frisch zubereitet. Lecker bitte weiter so! Danke.
Ein sehr angenehmes, freundliches ausflugslokal. Essen schmeckt lecker und auch die Gäste sind locker und freundlich. Ein bayrisches ausflugslokal!!! Werden immer wieder rast machen. ****Danke
