I hired a new BMW 1600 GT bike from BTS last May 2017 for about a week. The bike had 300km on the clock. After 2 days riding the bike broke down in the Italian Alps with a broken gearbox, on a really remote road, 35km from the nearest village. Phone calls to BTS and BMW warranty services were made for 4 hours, promises of rescue, etc; then darkness threatened to fall (and no food or water since morning...) and my riding partner took me as pillion onto his bike to get back to the hotel in Austria (3 hours ride...). Bottom line: huge hassle, threats and abuse from BTS for not having stayed with the broken bike all night (!!) [it was eventually collected around 2-3am the following morning we were told], no replacement bike, no compensation for having to hire a hugely expensive replacement car privately in Austria to get back to Munich. Basically completely ruined holiday week!! And in the end? we got 2.5 days hire refunded.... THAT's IT! Lesson learnt: I won't go back there for another bike hire, won't endure the unhelpful, unpleasant, 'don't give a damn' attitude of boss and staff any more. Thanks again, lads!
