Been here a few times already and every single time, I was not disappointed. The food quality is always the same. Flavorful and just made right. The restaurant is as authentic as the food. If you're looking to fulfill your injera cravings, this is where to go.

Visited here because we were craving Eritrean food, specifically shiro (chickpea flour cooked in a base of tomatoes, onions and spices) and it wasn't clear that all of the places in Cologne have it on the menu. The place was really quiet (the was only one other guest) and the service was a bit inattentive. There was a mix up since we had ordered the veggie combo plate and the shiro plate because we love the veggie dishes the best, but got the meat plate and shiro plate instead. Was going to tell them that we got the meat instead of veggie plate, but honestly after waiting for a long while for someone to come back, decided to just eat the meat dishes so we didn't have to keep waiting. As for the food itself, it was ok. The flavors seemed to lack the smoky flavors from the cumin and came across as a bit sweet, but artificially, as if they had enhanced the flavor with Splenda instead of real sugar (if they were going to use sugar at all, which I would have skipped). Probably would try other places first before deciding whether to come back.

I had breakfast there with seven other persons which is only on reservation. The menu is small but all the dishes are very good, also the Ethiopian bread we had. Even though we had a great time there and enjoyed an excellent service, I was a bit upset when I left because the bill was higher than I expected. The one slice of Ethiopian bread (seize of a normal plate) I ordered as a replacement of the Brötchen they wanted to serve, was 3,50 Euro. Then we were asked if we want to try freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee and we agreed. It was nice to watch the lady doing it. But then they charged each of us 3,50 Euro for a coffee which was less than an espresso - which in my eyes was really exaggerated, also because each of us had two. My lesson learnt: I will never order anything there without asking \How much does it cost?\.

Excellent ambience, very cosy interior. Friendly service, the cuisine though falls a little short of expectations, injera not so smooth etc. The chickpea shiro was pretty good though.
