Very nice location, mostly excellent and friendly service, only a few glitches. We eat a very nice dinner at the Brasserie. The negative, we booked a room with fjord view, there was kind of a view, if you opened the window and leaned out, but not what I would call fjord view. And the windows were facing a busy street. When we arrived we were asked to put the car in the parking space across the road, we were not allowed to unload the car in the parking space in front of the hotel, while other guests were afforded that opportunity.

After a 2 night stay, we feel pretty secure in not recommending this hotel to the discerning traveller, much less to couples looking for a romantic, intimate setting to enjoy one another. The bed was great, the room excellent (after we paid 200 EUR upgrade, despite not being shown a price list), but the service, the food, the drinks, the ambience and the "spa" and pool area are all seriously underwhelming and bland. Think of any tasteless nameless lounge at pretty much any Airport anywhere, just with thicker linen, and that's pretty much it. We ate dinner once, upon check in, but left after the main course, and walked 800 meters to an Italian Restaurant that served 100 times better food at one quarter of the price. I wish we had read the reviews before booking this place. If we had, we would have gone with an Airbnb instead, and explored the excellent restaurants in the area from there instead. I decided to keep this review short, so this is all I am going to write: Go for a different destination in the otherwise excellent Flensburg area, and leave this hotel in the dust behind you. For dusty and pretentious is exactly what it is.

This is a lovely hotel and agree with the fact it's 5 stars. Therefore it is of course quite pricy but not as much as you'd expect. Staff are very friendly and offer an amazing service, including parking your car. A few downsides: the indoor pool area is quite small and nowhere near enough loungers to lie on. Spa treatments are exorbitantly expensive. Sadly, our room was not relaxing, even though we received an upgrade, as builders were renovating a room a few doors away. That was a shame. The food however, was amazing. We'd definitely come back when there is a special offer but not with the full price.
