I Took my Nissan Qashqai here for tyre change, which went OK. But when I was picking up the car they said that the breaks are worn out and should be replaced, I said OK how much wold that be. Their offer was around 900, which to me sounded a lot. I checked parts prices on internet and found out that I was correct, I could get the parts for less than 200. But that was not the end of it. I bought the parts and took the car to workshop that I had used before. There I looked at the brakes together with the owner, who said that there was no need to do anything for them. Brake Discs were OK and the pads had more than half of the wear left in them. I have to admit that this was few years ago, so could be that they have stopped cheating since then.
