To give this place just 4 stars seems unfair, but its just not quite a 5. I must stress I will be back though. The venue is unassuming on a residential street, the Petit Frank is appropriately named, possibly less than 30.seats. Stepping into, into the back seating area feels like joining a good friends informal dinner party. The Manager was really warm and welcoming, and also too was the chef who took the opportunity to bring food to the table and talk with customers. Both showed enthusiasm for their restaurant and food offering. We had the 4 course menu , which was excellent value , we also took the accompanying wine. A pairing of French food with local Sachsen wines. One of the wines wasn't to my taste, but the manager brought me a different one with out me asking and it was well matched to both the food and my palate. I appreciated being able to choose either cheese or dessert for my 4th course. I have a couple of small quibbles. Whilst the food was well cooked and well seasoned, the back was so dark, I couldn't quite see what I was eating. Also, for me the menu was too tomato based, I would have like more variety in flavour notes as I progressed through the menu. Still I recommend a visit, if only to check out the manager's shoes.

Very nice service and tasty food. But desert was creme brulee and we got only 6 of our 7 courses plus small bread and butter

nice underground restaurant to discover. though I wouldn't go there every day. food is pricey, taste is sophisticated. Even had to pay for flat water. Vegetarian options barely exist. Place seems to have a good and wide range of wine. The waiter speaks several languages including French, English and German.
