I must say that I was a little stressed out after reading some of the negative reviews from here and before I had my appointment at Bürgeramt, however everything went really fast and the Bürgeramt worker was really kind and even that he didn’t speak english (I don’t speak german) we understood each other quite well. Everything tooked 15min, including waiting time (for the appointment number on the screen). One week later I got the envelope :) make sure your name is written on the mailbox !!!

You can never ever reach them by calling. Nobody has ever answered the phone, and I tried more then 20 times per day since one month. E-mails are ignored too. At least, when I managed to get an appointment (after a few e-mails), however, the lady was annoyed, she did her job quite well and didn't screw up as usual. My next experience, the lady screwed my Meldebescheinigung up, so I had to wait for another 3 weeks to get an new one and had to transfer the money again. Thanks for nothing, for God sake, why are you so incompetent?

I was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews as I don’t speak German, but the man serving me was very friendly and spoke English. Receptionist spoke English too and I was in and out quickly. Just wanted to post this here to hopefully reassure others!

Anmeldung was quick and painless, line up 30 mins before it opens and you'll be done before you know it

Terrible experience. Nobody speaks English. Staff is super rude. You can only pay by EC card and if you want to pay in cash you have to walk 200m to another building (expect no directions) to pay at a weird machine that looks like an ATM
