Via email, I ordered a taxi for around 4am to get from Böblingen to the Stuttgart airport. I was quoted a rate that seemed good. In their email to me, and I quote, they said \we can send you a bigger Van (Combi) and that will cost 41 from Böblingen tot he Airport.\ After we were all loaded into the van (I'm SUPER grateful they arrived on time, and with plenty of space), we were told that we would owe an additional 8 because the van they'd PLANNED on bringing was \kaput\ and so we'd pay for the van they DID bring. I showed the driver the email (that I pasted above) but he refused to look at it, calling his boss instead. We spoke on the phone with the boss who said that because they'd sent a van that was NOT the Combi they said they'd send, we owed the additional money. However, he dropped it to 7. We paid the difference HOWEVER... this was scammy. It was not OUR fault that their other van broke down and they couldn't bring it. We didn't agree to a larger van than what they'd promised. They didn't contact me to see if this change was okay or the new price was okay. Instead, they waited until all of our things were loaded into the van to make this change. If THEIR van broke down, that was on them, not me, and I should not have had to pay for their broken down car. In the end, I paid because it wasn't a huge difference and because we needed to catch our flight. I didn't want a fight. But I also knew I'd share this experience with others so they can decide whether to risk using a company that may quote you a price over email that they won't honor for whatever whimsical reason they come up with. Aside from that, the drive was fine, the driver nice (other than the price change), the van was in good condition, and we caught our flight easily.
