Excellent food in the Dutch quarter of Potsdam Great service and they were very helpful with our kids too. French onion soup and the sweet potato and bacon soup was amazing- as was the main course but the yogurt ice cream which was served alongside the chocolate lava cake and creme brûlée for dessert were out of the world. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal after a full day at the palaces and museums.
When we went there a few months ago (without reservation), we had a good impression of this brasserie. The service and the food were pretty good. We then decided to go back there this weekend. We arrived around 7:30PM on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was half empty. As we greeted the staffs and tried to ask a table for two, we did not even had time to finish our sentence in German that the waiter interrupted us in English to say that they don’t take customers without reservation. No greetings, not even asking if we have one or if we wish to make one, he pretty much just kicked us out the restaurant immediately. Just the way that was communicated to us was so off that we got suspicious about whether this was the true reason. This condition is not even mentioned anywhere. After checking the other comments, we came to the conclusion that at least one of their waiter has a habit of rejecting or being rude to a certain kind of customers. We give a one star rating to make sure other people won’t waste their time on gambling on a quality service and disturb this particular waiter that should probably reconsider his career choices. Anyway, there are other good German restaurants around Potsdam with the same quality of food and a very welcoming environment.
I had lunch today in this brasserie. The food was delicious but I cannot give them a good rate since they made fun of me. Clients go to a restaurant and the waiters make fun of you. Unacceptable.
Not letting people in with 6 year old kids at 16:30 on a Sunday when they have many empty tables. They explicitly say they can’t let the families with kids in. So beware if you have kids.
