Authentic Pakistani taste and staff is super nice. To the owner lady, thank you for branding it as a Pakistani restaurant unlike others in Berlin who would call them Indian. I'm your ambassador now. Keep up!

With so many Indian and Pakistani restaurants in Berlin that all taste exactly the same Mama Shabz is the place to go. The food is aromatic, actually spicy and delicious and unlike any of the other restaurants I’ve tried in Berlin. Their Biriyani is MOUTH WATERING! I literally can not walk past their shop on Reichenbergerstr without buying at least a pakora because they’re that good!

Love this place! It's like walking into a burst of sunshine in gray Berlin. And the food is like a ray of sunshine in your mouth, too. So colorful and tasty and thoughtfully prepared.

The weekend lamb is just so flavorful and the snacks are great. I love the interior too and the service is very adequate. I recommend a visit. Bare in mind the menu differs from weekday to weekend

I came in with high expectations but left completely underwhelmed. As a Pakistani/Afghan, I know what good Pakistani food is and this was not it. The fact that there is not a single South Asian in the kitchen is a red flag. Not to say non-South Asians can't make ethnic food but for authenticity's sake, it just doesn't work. The food is a tad overpriced. Pakoras shouldn't be the size of samosas. They are meant to be two bite nuggets of chickpea flour and fillings. I was super excited to try the aloo ones as those are my fave. The seasoning was alright but the potatoes weren't crispy like chips. They need to be thinly sliced and deep fried, not the mashed up variety here. My main dish was chicken korma. I wish the staff had told me it was chicken thigh on the bone. I was expecting breast meat in bite sized chunks. Needless to say, there was very little meat and for 9 euros, I left hungry. I will say the imly and coriander chutney were good and the people working there are lovely. It's too bad the food didn't live up to expectations.

It's very brave for Shabz to open an authentic Pakistani restaurant in Berlin. Bravo to her to change the taste buds of people of Berlin from fake curries at other Indian/Pakistani restaurants to real food. So glad to have Nihari back on the menu after the summer break. Thus restaurant got the real and the best Pakistani food!!

The chai is one of the best I’ve tasted in Germany, keep it up! Customer service is also very good with the staff quite friendly and helpful. Can’t say much about the food though, left a lot to be desired (at least for me and the wife) and is overpriced for the quantity served.

I want to support what Mama Shabz is trying to do, and I recognise the love sweat and tears that has obviously gone into this place, so Im giving her five stars. But as a punjabi, I found some aspects of my dinner there disappointing (only because my expectations were sky high). Parathas dont go with chicken salan (not sure why rotis or naans werent the standard accompaniment?), punjabi kadi doesnt have coconut in it (fully accept this is a valid version from south india, but the punjabi version is just my preference, and also my expectation for kadhi from a punjabi place), pakoras were too huge, and although chicken salan flavours were excellent, it was somehow weak - like the volume just needed to be turned up... The portions are a bit small for the price (but ok, quality doesnt come cheap, and I wouldve been happy to pay these prices if it was spot on - theres nowhere else in the city that comes as close to authentic as mama shabz does that Im aware of), and eating salan with flat breads out of a bowl is difficult - but next time Im sure I could ask for a plate. Daal was excellent and rice was also good. Paratha was in and of itself good (but seemed heavy on the medha? Again, personal preference for a more aata heavy paratha, but the execution was very good). So all in all: great initiative, great start, and great potential, but needs to up its game a bit to realise the dream! Hope this is interpreted as constructive feedback... I will return to try the weekend specials cause im desperate for halwa poori and haleem.
