I'm on my second year right now and I'm very happy with everything; the teachers, the program, the facilities... and of course, the building. It's a privileged location to establish a campus, and to study music production and performance with the facilities of Funkhaus available for you. The best decision you can make if you have related goals, even if you're outside of Berlin... or Germany. You'll find a safe, kind space, perfect to grow up as a human and for reaching your goals in a different learning experience - while meeting amazing people that will be by your side. The program covers many areas: modular synthesis, field recordings, setting up a studio, music history, modern composition... The only thing I miss: the guests that we used to have, and some workshops, this is of course due to corona... so I'm just hoping that things will get better next year again; this also brings very interesting people from the music industry to the school. Last year we even had a producer that worked with Michael Jackson as a guest!

From a film student perspective, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at DBS. I took the 1 year diploma course with plans to expand my portfolio and apply for a Masters in Fine Arts degree at NYU, USC, and Loyola in the US - I ended up being accepted into all 3. By taking advantage of the resources and the extremely helpful tutors (booking equipment during my free time, meeting tutors privately for script feedback, etc), I was aided in creating a handful of valuable short films in such a short time span. The cohort has extremely hard working people, those interested in collaborating and sharing ideas in a non-competitive space. My latest film, 'Generation Z', has just been accepted into Indie Short Fest in LA, and I thank DBS for the resources, feedback, as well as my hardworking crew for helping me with this amazing experience. Highly recommend!

I took the 4-week Filmmaking short course over the summer in 2020 and had an incredible time. Together with my classmates, we created 11 films together! This meant I played through quite a lot of the different roles on the 6 sets I was on... It really is amazing how much ground we covered. From lighting and camera, to script writing and directing, through to editing and screening. This course is perfect for an ambitious beginner like me or even someone who has a bit of experience and is looking for a fast paced challenge.

dBs was the perfect size for me - people get to know each other with the slightest effort. The staff were very qualified, helpful, and approachable, despite the fact that many of them were, in fact, English ;) I earned there some tools I use daily ever since, and made connections that go with me to this day. The program is what you make of it - the more you engage, the more you’ll learn.

I came here unsure of what I wanted from this experience. They give you all the tools and freedom to make your own path. I really flourished in this environment and was able to develope the beginning of what is so far a successful career in soundtrack music. If you're motivated here you will make something of yourself and dbs still helps me a year after graduation.
